South Jutland Symphony Orchestra
South Jutland Symphony Orchestra is one of six full-time professional symphony orchestras in Denmark.
From the base in Sønderborg in southern Jutland, we tour the entire region of South Jutland and Southern Schleswig in northern Germany. Every year, we play in more than 15 different locations in the region.
Following the terms in our agreement with the Danish Ministry for Cultural Affairs, we aim to play a diversified programme of both Nordic and international classical music, adding to this first performances of symphonic music written specifically for us by leading
Danish contemporary composers.
Addressing future generations of music lovers
South Jutland Symphony Orchestra is renowned for its educational focus. Each year, we play more than 80 concerts for children alone, either as small, touring ensembles or in the constellation of a full-scale orchestra.
In addition to this, we participate in numerous educational projects throughout the year, involving youth choirs and the like.
