2nd Violin: 2nd Solo and Tutti Audition 2023

Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester (SSO) / South Denmark Philharmonic will conduct auditions for the 2nd Solo player for the 2nd violin group, as well as two Tutti players for the 2nd violin group.
The audition will take place on Tuesday, February the 7^th, 2023 starting at 10 A.M. 
Employment begins from the 17^th of April, 2023, or by agreement with the winning candidate.
Deadline for application: January 24^th, 2023 at 12.00 P.M.

Audition details:

The audition will be held in two rounds. The first round will be played behind a screen.
The orchestra will provide a pianist for the audition on February the 7^th 2023 and there will be time for a short rehearsal with the pianist for each participant right before their audition.

Required audition repertoire: 

1^st Round

• Mozart: Violin Concerto: No. 3 (KV 2016), No. 4 (KV 2018) or No. 5 (KV 2019)
  • 1st movement. Only the exposition and the cadenza
• Strauss: Don Juan, Op. 20 (Orchestral excerpt, 2^nd violin part)

2^nd  Round

• Brahms, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Sibelius or Nielsen Violin Concertos
  • First movement with cadenza.
• Shostakovich: Waltz (Part: Violin II) from Five Pieces for 2 Violins and Piano
  • To be played together with the Principal and a Pianist
• S.Bach: Christmas Oratorio (Orchestra excerpt)
• Nielsen: Helios Ouverture, Op. 17 (Orchestral excerpt)
• Brahms: Piano Concerto No. 1, 3^rd Movement (Orchestra excerpt)
• Nielsen: Symphony No. 5, 2^nd Movement (Orchestra excerpt)
• v. Beethoven: Symphony No. 9, 2^nd Movement (Orchestra excerpt)

All participants, both those applying for the Solo and the Tutti positions, will play all of the above excerpts.

Salary:

The salary package is paid according to the agreement between the Danish Regional Orchestras and the Danish Musicians’ Union (DMF) and is commensurate with professional orchestral experience.

Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester (SSO) / South Denmark Philharmonic is a symphony orchestra with 65 members based in Sønderborg, Denmark. It serves as the state orchestra for Denmark’s Southern Jutland region and Southern Schleswig in Germany. The orchestra plays around 155 concerts per year – classical symphonic music, chamber music, school concerts, and opera.

Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester afholder konkurrence om en ledig 2. solo spiller til 2. violingruppen, samt 2 tutti spillere til 2. violingruppen, tirsdag d. 7. februar 2023 med tiltrædelse d. 17. april 2023 eller efter aftale. Konkurrencen starter klokken 10.00.

Info om konkurrencen:

Konkurrencen afholdes i to runder. Første runde vil blive spillet bag en skærm.
Orkestret stiller med en pianist ved konkurrencen den 7. februar 2023, og der vil være tid til en lille prøve med pianisten for hver deltager lige før deres audition.

  • Spilles sammen med gruppelederen og klaver
• S.Bach: Christmas Oratorium (Orkesteruddrag)

• Brahms: Klaver Koncert Nr. 1, 3. sats (Orkesteruddrag)
• Nielsen: Symfoni Nr. 5, 2. sats (Orkesteruddrag)

Alle ansøgere, uanset ansøgning til Solo- eller Tutti-stillingerne, spiller ovenstående orkester uddrag.

Løn:

Aflønning sker iht. Overenskomst mellem Landsdelsorkestrene og Dansk Musikerforbund. For ikke-EU-borgere gælder specielle regler. Anciennitet fra andet professionelt symfoniorkester kan overføres efter gældende regler.

Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester er et landsdelsorkester med 65 musikere i det sydlige Danmark med øvested i koncertsalen Alsion, Sønderborg. Orkestret har i de seneste år modtaget P2 prisen tre gange for bedste danske indspilning. Orkestret spiller ca. 155 koncerter om året, fordelt over det sydlige Danmark og det nordlige Tyskland. Orkestrets repertoire er først og fremmest klassisk symfonisk musik, men også kammermusik, skolekoncerter, populærkoncerter og opera.
