Nordic Orchestra Conference #48

Welcome to Sønderborg

We are happy to invite you to participate in the 48th Nordic Orchestra Conference in Sønderborg, Denmark.

Sønderborg is situated in the border region between Germany and Denmark which is one of very few regions globally where peaceful coexistence has been possible for decades. A very important part of that coexistence is the exchange of culture across the border. And Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (SHMF) is one of the keys to this success.

The NOC takes place at the same time as the Nordic Masterclass for young conductors under the guidance of Maestro Jorma Panula. Our house will be filled with young aspiring conductors which will add an extra dimension to the conference’s ongoing discussions regarding the food chain and sustainable mentoring for executives within the cultural organizations. The Nordic Masterclass is a perfect example of a kind of apprenticeship coming from within the field.

Our chairman of the board Simon Faber will join our artistic director and CEO Adam Stadnicki in welcoming you all on the first day. And we are all looking very much forward to have you with us here in Sønderborg.

October 7 to the October 9

Program

Two presentations

We have invited SHMF’s Director, Dr. Christian Kuhnt to join us and share his thoughts on organizational structure in relation to SHMF’s journey towards success and their take on audience development of the future.

Director of Applaus – Lene Struck-Madsen – will also join us and share her insights into the ever-important field of audience development. If we want to embrace our audiences, we need to let them into our organizations and learn more about who they are and what is important to them. But how do we get to know our audiences and what will it take for us to adapt to new demands?
