Appointed concert master
Carmen Rosu-Nicolescu
Carmen Rosu was born and raised in Romania in a musical family, where she spent most of her childhood at the music school or in the Opera House in Bucharest. The start of the teenage years came with a flurry of experiences, both personal and professional, when she moved to the United States, where she e.g. changed addresses several times and finally ended up in Dallas, Texas, at Southern Methodist University in 1992. However, the violin brought her back to Romania to study at the Conservatory of Music in Bucharest, and in 2000 it was time again to move to the United States, where she after a few years got a master's degree in music from the University of Illinois at Champagne-Urbana.
She has been employed by Sønderjylland's Symphony Orchestra since 2002, and here she had the opportunity to finally start a family and develop herself as a musician. Employment in the orchestra gave her plenty of opportunities to perform as a soloist, chamber musician and concertmaster. Carmen Rosu plays a Storioni violin kindly lent by the Augustinus Foundation.
