Alexandru Radu was born in 1975 in Romania. He got his first permanent job as a professional violinist in a symphony orchestra already at the age of 18 alongside his studies at the Music Conservatory in Bucharest.

Just four months after finishing his studies in 1999, he won a violin competition at the Southern Jutland Symphony Orchestra and was employed there. In the period 2007 – 2011, Alexandru played in the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. However, the connection to Denmark remained strong, and he returned to a permanent position in Sønderjylland's Symphony Orchestra in 2011. In addition, he can write solo performances in Oper Kiel and The Barcelona Symphony Orchestra on his CV.
