Time:

Sønderjylland's Symphony Orchestra is holding a competition for a vacant solo cello position on Friday 26 April with entry on 12 August 2024 or by agreement. The competition starts at 10:00.

Round 1

Haydn: Cello Concerto (D major), 1st movement with cadenza.

Orchestral excerpts chosen by the jury from the list below will be announced on the day of the competition.

 

Round 2

Dvorák: Cello Concerto 1st movement, or Schumann: Cello Concerto 1st movement.

Orchestral excerpts chosen by the jury from the list below will be announced on the day of the competition.

 

Round 3

Candidate's own choice by JS Bach: Prelude from Suite 1-6 for cello solo.

Chamber music, announced after the registration deadline.

Pay:

Remuneration takes place in accordance with the agreement between the National Orchestras and the Danish Musicians' Association. Special rules apply to non-EU citizens. Seniority from another professional symphony orchestra can be transferred according to current rules.

ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA

Sønderjylland's Symphony Orchestra is a regional orchestra with 65 musicians in southern Denmark with rehearsals in the concert hall Alsion, Sønderborg. In recent years, the orchestra has received the P2 award 3 times for best Danish recording. The orchestra plays approx. 155 concerts per year, distributed over southern Denmark and northern Germany. The orchestra's repertoire is primarily classical symphonic music, but also chamber music, school concerts, popular concerts and opera.

SALARY

The salary package is paid according to the agreement between the Danish Regional Orchestras and the Danish Musicians' Union (DMF) and is commensurate with professional orchestral experience.

ABOUT THE ORCHESTRA

Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester (SSO) / South Denmark Philharmonic is a symphony orchestra of 65 members based in Sønderborg, Denmark. It serves as the State orchestra for Denmark's South Jutland region and Southern Schleswig in Germany. The orchestra plays around 155 concerts per year – Classical symphonic music, chamber music, school concerts and opera.
