Danish National Philharmonic Orchestra / Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester

Alsion 2, 6400 Sønderborg

Scandinavian debut

Present and mature in his playing, a critic wrote after a concert at a German festival about Guido Sant'Anna, born in 2005 in Säo Paulo in Brazil. Sant'Anna won a chamber music prize at the Menuhin Competition at the age of 12, where he was the first Brazilian ever to enter. The youngster said in a small homemade video that he was looking forward to meeting violinists from all over the world, making friends and having fun. In 2022, at the age of 17, he won 1st prize in the Fritz Kreisler Competition – both competitions founded on the shoulders of great violin virtuosos who were aware of young violinists and the opportunities they should be given.

Competitions, says Sant'Anna, are a good way to learn about yourself, and as a young violinist in development, he changes his way of practicing and of perceiving music when he has met other musicians. Because it gives a "boost" when you meet someone who is better than yourself, he says. In connection with the Fritz Kreisler competition, Guido Sant'Anna emphasized that Kreisler showed his personality in the music to that extent, and he believes that this is important. With the Sønderjylland Symphony Orchestra and Hans Graf, he gets the opportunity to show his, in one of the great violin concertos, Brahms', where virtuosity, gentleness, seriousness and celebration must be shown.
